This year, Columbia Credit Union employees raised $9,400 for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life through an online auction, a carwash and other events. Columbia was recognized as one of the top five fundraising teams for West Clark County.
Employees from all branches and departments teamed up to donate prizes for the auction. The most popular items included a “Catch of Your Life” gift basket offering a fishing guide session, license and other goodies, and a “Yard and Garden” basket with gardening tools, supplies, a bird bath and more.
A 14-member team participated in the annual 24-hour Relay For Life. Jessica Shannon, assistant branch manager at the Heights branch and part of the team, said the relay was a fun way to get to know colleagues outside of work. The event was also inspiring in its moments of reflection for those affected by cancer.
“It is really moving, even if you don’t have a personal experience with cancer,” Jessica said.
Relay For Life is designed to celebrate cancer survivorship and raise money for research and programs of the American Cancer Society. |
