The last of 150 trees awarded to the Vancouver Heights neighborhood was planted during Vancouver’s Arbor Day celebration. Columbia sponsored the trees, and Heights was awarded them during the City of Vancouver’s 150th anniversary celebration last fall.
“Branching Towards the Future” was the theme of Vancouver’s Arbor Day celebration held April 9 at McLoughlin Middle School. Representatives from local organizations, including Columbia Credit Union, Vancouver Urban Forestry, Friends of Trees, Washington Dept. of Natural Resources, and Mayor Royce Pollard spoke to students and community members about the benefits of urban trees and how to get involved with tree plantings.
