Clark County third graders receive dictionaries

Parker Cann distributes Dictionaries
Columbia CEO Parker Cann distributes dictionaries to Clark County third graders.

Columbia Credit Union and the Clark County Rotary are working together to provide dictionaries to third graders in all Clark County school districts for the third annual Clark County Rotary Dictionary Donation project. This year's project is in honor of the 250th anniversary of Noah Webster's birth, the founding father of the modern dictionary.

More than 5,000 dictionaries complete with book plates and book marks are slated for distribution. As the project sponsor, Columbia Credit Union is underwriting the entire project by funding the purchase of the dictionaries and providing the name plates and books marks. Columbia staff are also assisting Rotary volunteers with dictionary preparation and distribution to the schools.

Columbia officials and members of the Clark County Rotary recently gathered at King Elementary in Vancouver and Hathaway Elementary in Washougal to present the dictionaries in special assemblies. Columbia Credit Union supports the Rotary's efforts to serve the community and promote education.
