For many families, buying an expensive prom dress is simply not an option. That's why the Vancouver School District Foundation is once again working their magic through Operation Fairy Godmother to give every girl the chance to go to prom in a great dress.
Operation Fairy Godmother works with Clark County high schools and the community to accept donations of new and used gowns and semi-formal dresses, shoes, gloves and purses. The dresses are cleaned, organized and sold at a yearly dress extravaganza for $10.
Girls who donate their old dresses at participating high schools can receive a "free dress coupon" and early entry (10 a.m.–noon) at this year's event on March 21, at Westfield Vancouver Mall. Participating high schools are issued vouchers to distribute to girls who don't have dresses to donate or the money to purchase one.
Donate your old gowns — help another Cinderella enjoy the ball!
Columbia is once again a sponsor of this event, so clean out your closets and bring in your dresses to any of Columbia Credit Union's branches through Feb. 28. All donations are tax deductible and all sizes are needed.
Columbia Credit Union is committed to improving the quality of life for the families in our branch communities. For more information, read about Columbia's community commitment.
