Columbia is holding a donation drive to help local families this holiday season. The public is invited to join us in supporting Share, which serves the hungry and homeless and The Children’s Center, which provides mental health services for children. Please bring your donations to any Columbia branch by December 11, 2010.

The Children’s Center is requesting stuffed animals and personal items:

• New, large stuffed animals (sized to fit or cover a young child’s lap) are needed to
  be filled with clean aquarium rock. The weighted stuffed animal is beneficial in
  calming young clients with sensory issues.
• Personal items not covered by food stamps, such as toilet paper, deodorant, soap, tooth brushes and paste, and laundry soap.

Share is requesting items for their Holiday Cheer Program, to be used for both their Adopt-a-Family Program and Holiday Party:

• Gift Cards to: Walmart, Fred Meyer, Target, Winco,  Safeway, etc.
• Gift Cards to Clothing/Shoe Stores: Old Navy, Kohls, Foot Locker, Lerner,
  Lane Bryant, Big & Tall, Champs, American Eagle, Claire’s, Payless Shoes, Gap,
  Famous Footwear, JCPenney’s, etc.
• Gift Cards to restaurants and fast food places
• Plus size clothing for men, women, & young ladies
• Shoes (all sizes)
• Baseball hats
• Sports equipment (soccer balls, basketballs, pumps, etc.), including bike helmets
• Skate board accessories
• Movie passes & bowling passes
• Hand held games, MP3 Players, CD Walkmans
• Perfume/cologne
• Make-up
• Basketball/baseball cards
• Jewelry for women & teen girls, necklaces & watches for men & teen boys
• Backpacks
• Writing paper, journals, cool pens, pencils & stickers
• Phone & gas cards
• Age-appropriate CDs or VHS/DVDs or gift cards to CD & movie stores
