Columbia Credit Union has adopted a Meals On Wheels route to benefit local seniors. Columbia staff volunteers deliver meals each week throughout Clark County for an entire year.
Columbia currently supports Loaves & Fishes and their programs to provide meals to seniors in neighborhood dining rooms through sponsorship of fundraising events. Supporting meal delivery to homebound seniors through the Loaves & Fishes’ Meals On Wheels program was a natural fit for the credit union.
“Adopting a Meals On Wheels route is a win-win for everyone,” said Columbia Vice President of Corporate Responsibility, Laurie Kusch. “It’s a great way to assist local seniors and provide our staff with the experience of volunteering at a personal level.”
With the help of over 800 volunteers, Loaves & Fishes delivered 96,255 Meals On Wheels to local homebound seniors, and served 47,458 meals in the eight Clark County meal centers. For 2011, the projected number of meals needed is expected to increase by nearly 10,000.
Loaves & Fishes depend on hundreds of volunteers each day to help prepare meals at the centers and deliver Meals On Wheels. If you would like more information, please visit www.feedseniors.org.
