Columbia Credit Union is proud to be a charter member of the Northwest Biofuels Association (NWBA). NWBA is helping make alternative fuels more accessible to drivers in our area, providing consumers with another option to traditional gasoline.
Pumping up emissions
Transportation accounts for 32 percent of the nation’s carbon emissions, according to a June 2005 report from the Pew Center on Global Climate Change. Biofuels may help counteract these carbon emissions, especially as researchers learn more about how biofuels impact the environment and develop new ways to use them.
Driving toward sustainability
The nonprofit NWBA represents organizations that produce, distribute or sell biofuels, such as biodiesel and ethanol. According to the NWBA, biofuels may burn cleaner and cause less pollution than regular gasoline or diesel. Also, when these fuels are produced locally, their use helps reduce our dependence on imported oil and supports our economy.
The NWBA serves Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. In addition to bringing biofuels to consumers, the nonprofit also provides education and promotes the industry.
