Environmentally friendly business practices are enjoying a huge renaissance right now. But in truth, Columbia Credit Union instituted green practices years ago. Sustainable practices continue as an integral part of our operations and guide our approach to serving the needs of our community.
- We incorporate sustainable building features into our branches.
- Our marketing materials are printed on uncoated, recycled paper with soy-based inks.
- We recycle at all our locations.
- Our members can reduce their paper use through online services.
- We purchase more than 50 percent of electricity through a renewable energy program.
- We use compact fluorescent lighting in all our facilities.
- We reward members with eco-friendly incentives, such as hybrid autos, natural cleaning products, organic lawn care, organic rose bushes and Green Lights gift cards.
- We sponsor local tree plantings through Vancouver Urban Forestry.
- We sponsor re-usable, recyclable bags at Vancouver Farmers Market.
- We are a charter member of the
Northwest Biofuels Association (NWBA).
- We support organizations that are dedicated to education, affordable housing, art and civic enhancements and health care access.
- Our management sits on the boards of both Identity Clark County and Columbia River Economic Development Council, further supporting sustainable community development, as well as the recruitment and retention of family-wage paying employers.
It’s not unrealistic to say that future product and service enhancements will encourage members, and those in our community, to reduce their footprint on the environment.
Go Green Yourself
If everyone did one thing “green,” it would make a huge impact. Through example, we hope you’ll join us in our sustainable lifestyle. Learn more about how you can go green in our Sustainable Learning Center.
