Stacee Sellers, Washougal Mayor, recently opened Out to Dry, a dry cleaning business.
Washougal mayor and member Stacee Sellers recently opened “Out to Dry,” a new dry cleaning business that offers an alternative to the chemical process used in traditional dry cleaning.
As the only Washougal-area dry cleaner to use an increasingly popular liquid silicone solvent that doesn’t interact with clothing, her business stands out in a town that adopted sustainable principles and practices last fall.
Stacee opened “Out to Dry” in January 2008 after searching for a profession that was local and flexible enough to allow time for her mayoral duties. After she spent some time working and learning the dry cleaning business, she saw an opportunity to open her own business with an eco-friendly twist and took it.
“We were promoting new business in Washougal, and I thought this would be a great fit.” Stacee said. “ I took my own advice!”
At this point, that advice has been sound. “For a start-up, things are going well,” assured Stacee. “As mayor, I’ve learned how important it is to treat everybody equally and with respect – I strive to do that with my customers,” continued Stacee. “And that’s why I like Columbia: they put their members first and consistently provide great service.”
