You could say member Ken Williams is in the business of transformation.
“My goal is to make information technology (IT) a benefit for small businesses rather than a burden,” said Ken, who is working to open CMIT Solutions, a new Vancouver company that provides technical support and computer maintenance services to businesses. “I want to make big business IT solutions available to small businesses.”
And if all goes to plan, he’ll do just that
with some help from Columbia’s Business Lending Team. Ken recently met with Coletta Bruce, Vice President, to find out if he could fund his new business with the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Patriot Express Loan.
The SBA Patriot Express Loan is available to veterans and members of the military and their spouses. The loan can be used for most business purposes and features the SBA’s lowest interest rate for business depending on loan size and maturity.
“We’re pleased to offer this newly available SBA loan option to veterans,” said Coletta. “This is the first SBA program that serves veterans only.”
“After I submitted my application, Coletta responded quickly,” he said. “I would highly recommend this loan to other vets – they should absolutely consider Columbia Credit Union. It’s been a great transaction!”
Ken hopes to hire staff and officially open CMIT Solutions in early May. “The full suite of Columbia’s business services was very impressive,” said Ken. “I didn’t know they offered things like employee benefits – this will really help as I get everything set up!”
