Thousands of people entered to win this cute 2008 Smart car. In December, we’ll randomly draw three names from our pool of entries. The three finalists each drew a key, but only one started the Smart car!
Food charities are excited about the donations“We’re seeing a 30 percent increase in requests for assistance,” said Nancy Wilson, Treasure House Executive Director. “We serve a lot of people who’ve been laid off or are unemployed as well as seniors who are having a hard time paying bills. People are really generous this time of year, but it doesn’t usually last – that’s where Columbia’s contributions will really help.” “We’ll use their donations to make holiday food boxes and add to our emergency fund to purchase food when our shelves are bare, ” said Elaine Hertz, Executive Director of North County Community Food Bank. The agency expects to serve about 400 families during the holidays (up from 300 last year). “We’re impressed with Columbia’s support and enthusiasm,” said Amy Reynolds, Director of Programs at Share. “With overall contributions down 30 percent, Columbia’s donations will really benefit our Hot Meals program that serves over 100,000 meals each year.” About the Smart carIt’s efficient, it’s safe – and it’s cute too! That’s why we’ve chosen the 2008 Smart ForTwo for our grand prize. It’s so compact that it fits into half the average parking space, but it still offers headroom and storage inside. It averages 33 city/41 highway miles per gallon according to EPA standards. And the 2008 Smart ForTwo achieved the highest ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for front and side crashworthiness. Best of all, the Smart car is designed and produced with sustainable practices that save energy, reduce pollution and promote recycling. That’s something we do every day at Columbia Credit Union!
