CardValet® FAQ

We’re excited to announce that Columbia Credit Union members can now add their Columbia Debit Cards to CardValet. This handy mobile app helps you protect your debit card and control when, where and how it’s used.

Here are some highlights of CardValet:

  • Safeguard your cards: Turn them “off” if they’re misplaced and back “on” when you’re ready to use them.
  • Receive alerts whenever your debit card is used.
  • Establish transaction controls for dollar amount limits, merchant categories, transaction types and geographic locations.

      Choose CardValet to safeguard your Columbia Credit Union debit card from fraud with customized alerts and the ability to set limits on cards.

      Download CardValet from Google Play™ or the App StoreSM to:

      • Sign up for alerts based on transaction amount, location, merchant type or transaction type. 
      • Set limits for spending – great for parents or employers.
      • Turn your debit and credit cards “off” if they’re misplaced or stolen – right from your smartphone.
      • And set other features.

      Play it Safe: The mobile app CardValet lets you protect your cards against fraud and theft by receiving real-time alerts to ensure your cards are used only by you.

      Budget Conscious: CardValet empowers you to control your debit and credit card spending in real-time.

      Parental Controls: With convenient features like threshold limits, merchant categories and location and on/off controls, you decide where, when and how your children use their payment cards.

      Company Policy: Maintain control of your employees’ business spending with CardValet. You select merchant codes, set spending thresholds, choose location parameters and more to help ensure purchases are in line with your company policies. You can even turn your employees’ cards on and off in real time.

    • What are the benefits of CardValet?

      Fraud Protection

      • Real-time alerts keep you informed when your cards are used.
      • Transaction controls allow your cards to work only in specific locations or geographic areas.
      • When your cards are “off,” no withdrawals or purchases will be approved.

    • Can multiple cards be linked to one registered CardValet account?

      Yes. Cardholders can register multiple cards from the same financial institution. Additional cards are added within Menu | Manage Portfolio | Add Card. The terms and conditions are not presented for additional cards.

      15 cards.

    • What type of information do I need to register a card?

      Required information includes:

      • Card number
      • Address
      • ZIP code
      • Expiration date
      • CVV/CVC code

      Secondary authentication includes:

      • Security token sent in an email
      • Last 4 digits of the social security number

    • Does the app show recent transaction history?

      Yes. The app shows last 50 card-based transactions pending or posted within last 30 days.
