#GivingTuesdayNow – Global Generosity When We Need It Most

May 05, 2020

On Tuesday, May 5, the world is mobilizing around generosity. With the COVID-19 pandemic affecting every person on the planet, the folks at GivingTuesday have declared May 5, 2020, as a new global day of unity and giving. Through #GivingTuesdayNow we can unleash the power of people and organizations to create a wave of generosity, citizen engagement, business action, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world.

How can I get involved?

Here are some ideas to help connect with your community while practicing social distancing:

  • Support healthcare workers by donating supplies, advocating for them, and staying home.
  • Give to the organizations that you love most – no amount is too little and nonprofits need our support.
  • Help out small businesses by buying gift cards or writing an online review.
  • Combat loneliness by reaching out to a neighbor, relative, seniors or veterans.

Visit the GivingTuesday Idea Factory for more creative ways to get involved. And don’t forget to help inspire others by sharing your acts of giving back on social media with the hashtag #GivingTuesdayNow.

Give Share Vancouver a Lift

Here’s a quick way to pitch in locally: Help Share Vancouver safely and efficiently move food donations out through their meal programs.

Through partnerships with Evergreen and Vancouver Public Schools, as well as the Battle Ground School District, Share is packing 900+ bags of food that children and their families can access through grab-n-go locations. But as the number of meals continues to rise, Share needs a big lift… So they’re raising $10,000 to purchase an electric pallet jack and manual stacker to more safely and efficiently move food donations. If you’re able, consider a #GivingTuesdayNow donation at sharevancouver.org.
