The Race for Warmth Helps Families Stay Warm
Every year, Clark Public Utilities runs the Race for Warmth—one of the Columbia Credit Union staff’s favorite community events. Supporting their Operation Warm Heart, every dollar raised goes to helping limited-income families in crisis situations who need help paying their electric bills. Every dollar of the registration cost goes directly to Operation Warm Heart, which has raised over $419,000 for local families in the past nine years.
Operation Warm Heart
Since 1985, Operation Warm Heart has provided over $3.6 million to more than 14,800 limited-income families in crisis to help pay their electric bills. These recipients can barely make ends meet, but don’t qualify for other government programs that could help them pay their winter bills. The program is funded by donations from customers, employees, local businesses, and the proceeds of the annual Race for Warmth.
