How Columbia CU Makes a Community Impact
At Columbia Credit Union, we believe that banking should do more than manage money—it should make life better. Our mission and core values are at the heart of our commitment to the community. Driven by the desire to “make life better” in the places where our members live, work, and play, you’ll see Columbia Credit Union actively networking and attending community events—not just as good neighbors, but as proud ambassadors of our organization. We invest our time and talent in service to our communities, rolling up our sleeves and collaborating with local organizations to make a meaningful impact. Last year, we proudly deepened our roots across Clark County and beyond, dedicating our resources, time, and energy to causes that uplift and empower, making a meaningful community impact where it matters most.
Hands-On Involvement Makes a Difference
Our teams contributed over 2,170 hours of community visibility and service last year. From volunteering at local events to participating in civic initiatives, our employees showed up—not just as financial professionals, but as neighbors, mentors, and advocates. We partnered with more than 20 local organizations focused on economic development and community livability, including:
- Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce
- Columbia River Economic Development Council
- Ridgefield Main Street
- Identity Clark County
- Camas/Washougal Chamber of Commerce
- Southwest Washington Society for Human Resource Management
These partnerships reflect our belief that thriving communities are built through collaboration and shared purpose.

Philanthropy Multiplies Impact
In 2024, Columbia Credit Union donated over $374,000 to local nonprofits, with additional support through matching fund grants and fundraising efforts. One of the year’s standout achievements was the 8th Annual McKibbin Legacy Classic, which raised a record-breaking $174,847 for community nonprofits. Thanks to a 3:1 matching grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, every dollar raised was quadrupled—amplifying the impact for the organizations John McKibbin championed.

Holiday Cheer Spurs Generosity
For the ninth consecutive year, we proudly sponsored the KPTV Toy Drive, helping bring holiday joy to thousands of children across the region. With the help of our members and community partners, we collected an overwhelming number of toys—so many that no sleigh could contain them all. It’s a tradition that continues to grow in generosity and spirit.
Supporting Local Economies
Beyond direct donations, Columbia Credit Union invested in the long-term health of our region by supporting organizations dedicated to economic development. Whether through sponsorships, board participation, or event engagement, we stood alongside local leaders to help shape a more vibrant, inclusive, and resilient economy.
Reflecting on our community impact in 2024 fills us with gratitude—for our members, our team, and our community partners. Together, we continue to prove that where you bank truly matters. As we look to the future, we remain committed to growing with purpose, serving with heart, and making life better for all.
